Dr Susan Ramsdale

Susan is currently employed as a Senior Lecturer and Mental Health Field Lead at the University of Manchester. She qualified as a Mental Health Nurse in 1996 and worked across the North West in a range of acute and crisis care settings before beginning a career in nurse education in 2003. She was responsible for developing the first mental health crisis response service in Lancashire in 1999 and in 2007 she became involved in developing and delivering the innovative Improving Access to Psychological Therapies curriculum. Susan has been Course Leader for Bsc Nursing Programmes in both Mental Health and Adult nursing and is currently engaged in developing the new pre-registration nursing curriculum at the University of Manchester which she will lead from 2019. Susan is also closely involved in creating a pioneering North West Assessment of Practice Learning Tool which will be used by all nursing students on placement across the North West.
Susan was awareded a Professional Doctorate in Education for her auto-ethnographic exploration of the trnasaltion from nurse to nurse educator in higher education. Susan in Chaire of Lancashire Women's Centers, an award-winning charity based in East Lancashire providing a range of services to support vulnerbale women.
